"No Shade. . .No Tea": A Stand Up Comedy Affair featuring Sampson along with special guest Emily Ruskowski is a full length stand up comedy concert performance that will also double as a benefit event to contribute to a charitable cause. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Wanda Alston House, a homeless shelter and program that caters to LGBT Youth. Sampson has performed numerous comedy shows that have benefited the shelter, as well as other LGBT social service and arts organizations. We're encouraging the community to come out to celebrate life, love and enjoy an evening of laughter. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door the night of the show, or in advance online at: www.sampsoncomedy.com.
Sampson is a black, openly gay stand up comedian, writer and activist. He's been touring the country, performing comedy since 2003, and includes tirelessly speaking out against homophobia and youth homelessness to his schedule as an activist. Although he fits into a double minority category, being both black and gay, he refuses to be defined by these portions of his identity and performs mainstream venues that have included Broadway in New York, Arena Stage, DAR Constitution Hall, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, 2012 International AIDS Conference, colleges that include Harvard and Central Michigan University and with notable acts such as Patti LaBelle and RuPaul.
His comedy has been called "riveting, refreshing, conversational, bold, intelligent, honest and good news." As his takes on life, religion, sexuality, politics, family and society leave audiences doubled over in laughter.
