For teaching professionals, they offer numerous opportunities. In particular, teachers who specialize in math and physics are the most sought after. For teachers who come from foreign countries, they have two career options available to them: supply teaching and long-term teaching.

Supply teaching is a good place to start for foreigners who would want to enter the education industry. First, openings for such positions are pretty much available year-round. This means that the applicant does not need to wait for the start of the school term and can immediately start to work mid-term. Typically, a supply teacher earns about ?120 per day. While supply teaching is short-term in nature, it can lead to long-term employment if the teacher's performance merits it. Also, it is a good way for teachers to familiarize themselves with the British curriculum.

On the other hand, long-term teaching jobs are more suited for teachers who wish to teach in one particular school, unlike in supply teaching where mentors may be assigned to different schools or locations. Typically, long-term teachers earn between ?22,000 and ?24,000. Unlike supply teaching, long-term positions are made available a couple of months before the start of the school term, typically in the months of June, July, November and February. School starts in September and ends in July with students taking breaks during the middle of the school term and two-week breaks during Christmas and Easter.

In order to be able to teach Abroad, applicants must be licensed in their native country aside from having visa requirements. They must have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) certification before they can start teaching. Foreigners, on the other hand, can only teach abroad for a maximum period of four years without QTS. After this period, if the teacher wants to pursue teaching abroad, he or she must complete a year of Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) status under the supervision of a teacher or principal. When the teacher completes his or her NQT year, he or she will then be granted QTS.
